On today’s episode, I’m going to be talking about the five lessons we can all learn from the TV series, Noughts and Crosses, to address inequity in the workplace.
I decided to talk about this because while I was watching the show, I completely fell in love with all the characters, and became very engrossed in the series as many people did.
I also felt there were lots of parallels and lessons we could all learn to improve the workplace and reflect on the way that we do things.

- I think it’s essential for many people who have not experienced a power imbalance within our current UK culture to see it and understand it and value it from a different perspective.
- Bias is a social stereotype about certain groups of people, that individuals have as a result of their culture, upbringing and exposures to others.
- Microaggressions are essentially subtle, yet an incredibly powerful denigrations of someone’s identity.
- Stormzy said he’s experienced racism and that racism happens in the UK. This was very different to what was reported in the media.
- Systems are shaped by culture and who controls the culture. So, consider who controls the culture.
